New Compound Lowered HbA1c in Type 2 on Top of Metformin Alone

NEW ORLEANS — A novel compound that inhibits the enzyme 11-beta HSD1 significantly lowered hemoglobin A1c in a 12-week phase II-B study of more than 300 patients with type 2 diabetes who failed to achieve adequate glycemic control with metformin alone.
