ADA Panel Mulls Glucose Trial Data

SAN FRANCISCO — It's still not clear why more people died with intensive glucose lowering in the ACCORD study, but that finding and those of other recent trials all seem to point to one clinical message: Intensive glucose control should not be viewed as a means of reducing cardiovascular risk in patients with type 2 diabetes, particularly those with a long duration of disease.
