The Food and Drug Administration has issued an alert on exenatide (Byetta), warning that the agency has received 30 postmarketing reports of acute pancreatitis in patients taking the drug. Exenatide is approved as adjunctive therapy to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
